It said that singling out Karachi for the delimitation process reflects a 'biased' conduct of authorities, demanding that new constituencies should be drawn across the country. The petitioners prayed to the court to review its November 26 and 28 orders it issued while hearing a suo motu notice regarding law and order in the city.
The court has also ordered Election Commission of Pakistan to draw new electoral constituencies in consultation with political parties besides conducting a door-to-door verification of electoral rolls in Karachi with assistance of army and Frontier Constabulary. On Thursday, the ECP Chief former Justice Fakhruddin G Ebrahim rejected MQM's reservations and vowed that the task of drawing up new constituency boundaries would be completed in light of the apex court orders.
